Eoin Smith, a PhD student in Electro-acoustic Music Composition at NUI Maynooth will present an interactive turntable installation along with two other composers, as part of Culture Night 2010. The installation invites participants to control a computer music instrument through the manipulation of two turntables. The installation was devised to break down the barrier between artist and audience and, more importantly, to allow participants to interact with the installation, regardless of their knowledge of the field of computer music. Other composers on the night include Enda Bates who will be installing his interactive spatial music installation 'Sound Swarm' and a piece by Ailís Ní Ríain wil be also be performed throughout the night. It promises to be an enjoyable evening, showcasing some of the latest trends in contemporary music.
