What is involved?
A varied Repertoire will be selected over the first few rehearsals. Practice folders will then be handed out to all players, who should set aside 30 minutes a week for individual practice.
Players with an interest in orchestral management may apply for one of the following positions:
Secretary: s/he will deal with PR and advertise the Orchestra's engagements. He/she will be responsible for ticket sales and other such business.
Orchestral Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the hall is set up on time for each rehearsal or concert. He/she will be responsible for attendance records. He/she will be a trusted key-holder as he/she will need to be, along with their assistants, early for each rehearsal and late leaving in order to perform their duties.
Assistant Conductor. He/she will attend all rehearsals including sectionals that the candidate might not otherwise be involved in. The assistant will take a portion of rehearsals under Sebastien's supervision and possibly some short sectionals. He/she will also have library duties. A suitable candidate does not have to be a member of the orchestra as pianists, harpists, etc may also wish to apply. Fluent reading and knowledge of all clefs or transpositions would be a strong point.
