NUI Maynooth Chamber Choir

Conductor: Michael Dawson
Email: chamberchoir@nuim.ie

Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 18:30 - 21.15 during term time [Bewerunge Room]. Also two rehearsal weekends during mid-term and additional rehearsals before major performances.

What is it?

The Chamber Choir is an Approved Ensemble for modules MU145, MU253 and MU358. The Choir contributes to the Christmas Carol Services and also performs a major end-of- year concert in early May. The Choir consists of twenty singers and also occasionally performs in venues outside the university.

Who is it for?

The Chamber Choir is for those who are at once passionate about choral singing and who are willing to invest time and effort into perfecting a challenging repertoire as part of a group. The ability to sing well at sight is an advantage, but a good ear and solid vocal technique are more important. The ideal chorister will be able to display individuality and passion in their singing. Choral singing is one of the most rewarding exercises any musician can engage in, and the benefit to general musicianship and performance practice is great.

How do I join?

Entry into the Choir is by audition only. Applicants are required to sing, unaccompanied for one minute and do a range and ear test.

Auditions will take place on Tuesday 20 and Thursday 22 of September between 19:00 and 21:30 in the New Music Room, Logic House. Successful applicants are called for first rehearsal on Tuesday, the 4 of October in the Bewerunge Room.
